Bingqian broke into freediving in the summer of 2021 and has fallen in love with it since.

Born and raised in China, she now calls London home. But you can find her exploring the underwater world through warmer countries while working remotely.

She’s taken on different challenges to experiment with freediving and it turned out to be a wonderful self-discovery journey. These include trying to dive deeper and document the learning journey, going on wildlife safaris, competing as an athlete, taking on brand sponsorships, becoming an underwater videographer, and creating freediving-inspired poems… And most recently, she has become a freediving instructor and underwater photographer. Each of these taught her something about freediving, about the world, and about herself.

It has taken her to incredible destinations (Tenerife, Cyprus, Mexico Cenotes, Bali, Dahab, Baja California Sur, Dominica, Barcelona, 11°C Zurich lakes, a Seal pups’ playground in the Bristol Channel, a 40m deep pool in Italy, and even a quarry full of crayfish in west London…) and connected her with many wonderful humans. She is very grateful for this journey so far.

She enjoys having artistic outlets such as oil painting, poetry, and creating underwater videos.

She picks up random challenges such as freediving, Krav Maga, plant propagation, and entrepreneurship to name a few.

They help her appreciate the width and depth of life and give her space to experiment, explore her personal limits, learn and grow.

She believes that past achievements and trauma help to shape us but should not define who we are and what we can be.
